How Can the High C-Style Improve Their Use of Time?

Today, we finish up the series on the ways each DISC Style can improve their Use of Time. If you missed any or want to find them again, just click here.

We will focus on the High C-Style person today. Once again, these suggestions will be quite different from the other three Styles.

As a quick review, the High C-Style is:

  • Conscientious
  • Likes procedures
  • Focuses on tasks and details
  • Often doesn’t mind working alone
  • Precise
  • Systematic
  • Often has a slower “motor” – walks slower, thinks and talks slower

So for a C-Style’s approach to Time:

  • They have a long-term perspective
  • They want to make sure they do things correctly
  • They often need to find the balance between doing things “well” and having things “perfect”
  • If they aim for perfection, it will take a lot more time and is often unattainable in reality
  • They need to realize, and accept, that doing something “very well” is often enough

So, for the C-Style to Improve their use of Time:

  • Make sure you know the time frame you have to do a project or report
  • Decide first what details are important and how thorough you will be in putting those details together
  • Decide what procedure or format best applies to this project or report and stick with it
  • Understand the difference between “good” and “perfect”
  • Be willing to settle for a job well done, even if it isn’t “perfect”
  • Get feedback from others on your process and when it is time to stop

A great example of this challenge for High C’s happens every year in the United States about this time – yearly taxes are due. For a High C-Style, the details that can be involved in their tax preparations can literally go on for months before they believe they are ready to submit a final tax document. And the idea of “good enough” can literally be worth hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars gained or lost. So it can turn into quite a challenging process!

I hope this Review and these Suggestions have given you some practical insights and help, whether you are the High C-Style or live or work with one.
