As far as placing an ad for our Hire, it is definitely easier to simply say, “High energy person wanted for excellent orthodontic office.” For years, this is exactly what we did. But to truly find “the Ideal Person” and put them in their “Ideal Place”, the wording used in any hiring notice must be precise.
We all know the Goal – a Great Hire who fits their new responsibilities and will stay for the long haul. The time you gave to do Phase One 0f Advance Preparation (to review that blogpost, click here), now becomes the groundwork for Phase Two: Designing the Ad.
Three Simple Steps to Designing the Ad:
- Use specific words that describe the roles and functions you are looking to fill (from Step 1 of Advanced Preparation)
- Use specific words to describe the qualities these roles require (from Step 2 of Advanced Preparation)
- No need to mention DISC Styles; the descriptive words will be enough
I want to encourage you to seriously consider this Hiring Process. Next week, we will focus on Phase Three: The Interviews. Once again, please be assured that any time you spend on these steps, both the Advanced Preparation as well as Designing the Ad, will yield exceptionally positive results – the Ideal Hire who fits the roles and responsibilities you need to fill.
QUESTION: Have you ever designed an ad this way? I’d love to hear your thoughts and observations. Please share in the comment section below.
