Family Vacation’s Joy of Laughter

As I mentioned last week, I’m taking a break from my regular blogging about the DISC to enjoy our Yearly Family Vacation.

At this point, I usually write a vivid description of making then eating a delectable s’more, but we were greeted this year with “Fire Ban,” so no roasting of marshmallows over an open fire.

My other challenge this year is the continued Severe Weakness of Long COVID, now in its 22nd month in my life.

But the good news is that none of this can preclude LAUGHTER! With 14 of us gathered, from 6 to 77 years of age, there is always an abundance of laughter – stories and experiences and memories we share, along with the usual teasing.

Laughter is such an amazing gift. Regardless of your DISC Style, it is a Common Denominator and available to all ages.

And I do hope, at some point in your life, you have relished the fun of roasting marshmallows over an open fire, then taking that golden (or burnt) piece of ooey gooeyness, placing it on top of a graham cracker that’s been topped with a chocolate bar, adding another layer of graham cracker (or first MORE chocolate bar) and letting the heat from the marshmallow melt into that chocolate. Then you take a bite and it smears all over your face.

But even if it won’t be our experience this year, we will continue to laugh our way through Family Vacation.

For this Nana who is renewed by people time, it is all soul-satisfying.

I hope you regularly find some ways to build self-renewing time and laughter into your summer.

Are you renewed by:

  • Physical activity (D-Style)
  • Fun, people time (I-Style)
  • Rest and naps (S-Style)
  • Quiet alone time (C-Style)

If you wonder how your DISC Style needs to be replenished and restored, I’ve written a short e-book, “It’s Time for Self-Renewal: How to Know the Best Steps to Renew Yourself – DISC Style”. Just click on this link to access it.

QUESTION: Have you found ways your DISC Style can be renewed and refreshed? I’d love to hear your thoughts and observations. Please share in the comment section below.
