Feeling Stressed? The DISC System Can Help!

Welcome to December and the Holiday Season. I dearly love Christmas and celebrate all month long. But the season also carries with it a lot of extra things we want to do – decorating, cooking, shopping, wrapping, concerts, gathering with family and friends. It can end up being a super-busy and stressful as well as a joyful time.

So I thought it might be good to spend the next few weeks going over how the DISC System can help with our stress. This week, we’ll look at the DISC Basics, then the next two weeks, we’ll address how each DISC System prefers to Respond to Stress, then to Alleviate Stress.  I hope it will be insightful and helpful to you.

We will get into much more detail and application in future blogposts, but for now, just think of someone (maybe it’s you) who:

  • D – Has to TAKE CHARGE
  • I – Always ADDS FUN
  • S – Is so very PATIENT
  • C – Loves the DETAILS

To expand on these descriptions:

  • D-Style: Gets things done, is decisive and authoritative
  • I-Style: Is enthusiastic, outgoing, positive and persuasive
  • S-Style: Is steady, dependable, cooperative and patient
  • C-Style: Likes procedures, is systematic, precise and conscientious

It is important to note that:

  • Only 4% of the population have just ONE strongest style
  • But 60% have THREE strong styles
  • And 36% have TWO strong styles
  • It is extremely difficult to have all FOUR styles be strong

Do you think you have a tendency to function best in at least one of these DISC Styles? Next week, we will delve into how each Style responds to stress.

I’ve written a short e-book called “How to “DISC” Stress Goodbye for Good” that contains all this information. If you would to know how to access it, just click here.

QUESTION: Have you ever considered how your DISC Style might influence your response to stress? I’d love to hear your thoughts and observations. Please share in the comment section below.
