I have thoroughly enjoyed putting these blogposts together that focus on DISC Styles and Time. If you missed any or want to find them again, just click here.
In this series, I want to concentrate on the ways each DISC Style can improve their Time Management. I believe this is a goal for most of us. Let’s take the High I-Style person today.
As a quick review, the High I-Style person tends to:
- Be fun-loving, a “party looking for a place to happen”
- Focus on people more than on tasks
- Have a “faster speed motor”
- Be more outgoing – an extrovert
- Be very persuasive
- Have a positive attitude – usually sees the jar half full
- Have lots of enthusiasm
Not surprisingly, then, the I-Style’s Approach to Time includes:
- They are Active individuals – time is for doing things and having fun
- They are always ready to start and jump right in with enthusiasm
- It is often important to involve other people in whatever they are doing – makes the time go faster
- They sometimes are too anxious for the successful outcome of a project – want to “jump Time” and get to the end result
- They tend to have a short-term perspective on Time
- The opportunity for Play can be a Siren Call on their Time
So, for the I-Style to Improve their use of Time:
- They need to develop Discipline in the use of their Time
- Be careful of how easily they can get distracted by another new, exciting project
- Keep a close eye on their energy and enthusiasm which can diminish over Time, especially during the long “work at it” phase of a project
- Be sure to focus on the long-term perspective and goals
- Find a balance between work and play – set up “break rewards” if necessary
I hope this Review and these Suggestions have given you some practical insights and help, whether you are the High I-Style or live or work with one.
