Most of us, at any age, are involved in daily activities that require lots of people interaction – whether it is in an office, school, job, activities, etc. For some of us, this in inspiring and renewing. But for the High C-Style person, this can be extremely draining.
As a reminder, the C-Style person tends to be:
- Precise
- Conscientious
- Systematic
- Often slower paced
- Task-oriented
- A lover of details
- A big fan of procedures and systems
So what renews a C-Style person is: QUIET ALONE TIME.
We have two children who are High C-Style. When they were growing up, after a hectic day at school, full of activities and lots of people, their biggest need was quiet alone time in their rooms. I knew if I gave them that space, they would be ready later to tell me all about their day. But that renewing quiet alone time was essential.
Other possible activities that would renew a C-Style:
- Having a place in the house that was their own quiet sanctuary
- Working on a system or procedure that would solve a problem
- Designing something then making it
- Putting furniture together
- Quiet reading time
- Keeping track of expenses and budgets
A warning: self-renewal can also get tricky. For example – if I believed that it was essential to have a good “welcome home and tell me all about your day” talk with each of my children right when they arrived… but their High-C Style was crying out for Quiet Alone Time, it could cause friction and misunderstandings.
***Bottom line – I want to encourage you to make self-renewal a daily habit that is planned into your routine. Your emotional well-being and best self is worth it!
