Am I Really Demotivating You? Please Help Me Understand!

As we pursue our goal to do our best in communication and motivation, whether at home, work, study or play, it is worth taking a few weeks to look at what demotivates each DISC Style. The definition of demotivation describes it as “making someone less eager to work or study; to have a lack of interest in and enthusiasm.” Its synonyms include such words as:  deterred, daunted, dispirited, dissuaded, unnerved, scared off, intimidated, put off, discouraged, disheartened.

All of these are all the last things we want to inflict on others. But the trick is understanding how each DISC Style perceives demotivation. As you will see, they differ vastly from each other!

This year, we have gone over how to minimize turnover, how to use a best hiring process, how to discern where to place our staff in their best roles, how to best communicate with them and lastly, how to best motivate them. But honestly, we will continue to “shoot ourselves in the foot” if we don’t understand what demotivates them.

So starting next week, we will take one DISC Style at a time and look at the demotivating factors. I hope you will take the few minutes each week to read and learn about how to keep from demotivating others so you can accomplish the goal of a Fully Functioning Team, Family, Committee or wherever you find yourself.
