At some point in your life, I hope you have relished the fun of roasting marshmallows over an open fire, then taking that golden (or burnt) piece of ooey gooeyness, placing it on top of a graham cracker topped with a chocolate bar, adding the top layer of graham cracker (or MORE chocolate bar) and letting the heat from the marshmallow melt into that chocolate. Then you take a bite and it all smears all over your face.
We had our first s’mores night last with our children and grandchildren. All the wet wipes we brought weren’t going to help the pieces of the s’mores that were stuck in people’s beards, all over children’s fingers, and just out of reach to lick them off.
In the midst of making and eating this campfire treat, we told stories, laughed, teased, enjoyed the view, and built fairy houses in tree trunks. For this Nana who is renewed by people time, it was soul-satisfying.
I hope you have found some ways to build self-renewing time into your summer.
Are you renewed by:
- Physical activity (D-Style)
- Fun, people time (I-Style)
- Rest and naps (S-Style)
- Quiet alone time (C-Style)
If you wonder how your DISC Style needs to be replenished and restored, I’ve written a free mini e-book, “It’s Time for Self-Renewal: How to Know the Best Steps to Renew Yourself – DISC Style”. Just click on this button to access it.

I’ll be back on August 2nd as we start into the Adult to Teen Series based on Dr. Boyd’s book, “Different Children, Different Needs”. We will examine each DISC Style Parent as they relate to each DISC Style Teen.
QUESTION: Have you found ways your DISC Style thrives on to be renewed? I’d love to hear your thoughts and observations. Please share in the comment section below.
